    If a member applies to register a newborn or newly-adopted child within 30 days of the date of birth or adoption of the child, the increased contribution will be payable from the start of the new month. The dependant's benefits will start as from the date of birth or adoption.

    If a member applies to register his/her spouse within 30 days of the date of marriage, the increased contribution will be payable from the start of the new month. The spouse's benefits will start as from the date of marriage.

  • Removing a dependant

    Please notify the Fund within 30 days of the resignation of your dependant. The change in your contribution rate will take effect at the start of the new month.

Membership

  • Resigning your membership

    Employees that earn a weekly wage and employment with the company ends on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, no contribution will be deducted from their wages. If employment with the company ends on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, the full week's contribution will be deducted from their wages.

    Employees who are paid a monthly salary and if their employment with the company ends on or before the 15th day of a month, no contribution will be deducted from their salary. If your employment ends after the 15th day of the month, the full month's contribution will be deducted.

    The last day of service at the employer will be the last day of cover on the Fund.

  • Retiring and continue membership

    Please notify the Fund within 30 days of your intention to remain a member of the Fund. If you elect not to remain a member, you may not rejoin at a later stage.

    If you are no longer an employee, you are required to pay your monthly contributions directly from your bank account. Please complete the bank account details section of the membership amendment form.

  • Family taking over membership from a deceased main member

    Please notify the Fund within 30 days

  • Suspended membership

    In the case of failure to pay contributions, the fund will have right to suspend all benefit payments in the respect of claims which arose during the period of default. Written notice of debt will be given to the member/employer, failing which, membership may terminated.

  • Terminating membership
    Failure to pay contributions

    Membership can be terminated for not settling a written notice of debt.

    Fraudulent activity
    • The Board of Trustees may exclude benefits or terminate the membership of any member or dependant who:
    • Allows someone outside their membership to use their medical aid card.
    • Submits false claims
    • Intentionally hides or fabricate information
    • Does not disclose information
